Los Caños de Meca is situated
between, "La Breña", which is a nature reserve
of mediterranean pines near Barbate and the Atlantic Ocean.
At the end of a headland overlooking the north African coast
is the famous "Cabo de Trafalgar", where the great
sea battle was fought, this offers outstanding views along
the coast of the “ Costa de la Luz” in each direction.
Walking along the sandstone cliffs and rocky caves of Los
Caños de Meca you can see fresh water dribbling from
the rocks creating a verdant bank of plants and succulents.
This small sea side hamlet which is still untouched by mass
tourism was originally a favourite destination for hippies,
the laid back atmosphere still remains.
The nearest towns in this part of Andalucia are: Vejer de
la Frontera, Conil de la Frontera, Barbate and Cadiz.
